If you plan to DIY your fertilizer, here are a few Fertilization Tips:
KNOW YOUR GRASS
- The type of grass you have will determine what type of fertilizer you need to use, and how often you need to fertilize. Some regions have primarily warm season grasses, while others have primarily cool season grasses. If you don’t know what type of grass is growing in your yard, ask your neighbors who have similar grass, or take a sample to your local garden center.
- Do a Ph soil test which determines the alkalinity or acidity of the soil. If your soil has high acidity or alkalinity, you’ll need to pick out a fertilizer that will balance things out for optimal growth.
WHEN DO I FERTILIZE?
- Fertilize right after an aeration in the spring and fall.
- Also fertilize a couple of times in the summer months and right before winter sets in.
- Fertilizing 4-6 times per year with a proper mix for your area.
- Applying EZ Wet (Revive) with fertilizer treatments to help the fertilizer and water you put down penetrate deeper into the soil.
DO I NEED TO WATER BEFORE OR AFTER A FERTILIZER TREATMENT?
- There is no need to water prior to a fertilizer treatment.
- Water your fertilizer in within a couple of days of the application and continue to water regularly each week for best results
- If you’ve had your weeds sprayed, you will want to wait 24 hours before you water, to let the weed killer set on the leaves of the weeds and soak in as long as possible.
